The
English company Jack Pyke have recently unveiled and released
three new knives to there catalogue. They are collectively known
as the Platinum Range. All models are very different, in that
one is a single bladed folder, one is a tri-bladed folder and
the third in the range is a fixed blade knife, known as the Bushcraft.
All of the platinum range of knives come packaged in a metal presentaion
case. The knife sits in a purpose made foam cut holder. If you
lift this out you find the sheath and a life time guarantee. The
presentation of the range is excelent and puts quite a few very
expensive knives to shame.
The Bushcraft has a 440 stainless steel full tang blade which
has been finished with a bead blast. this results in the blade
having a smooth matt grey aperance. The blade has a swedge grind
on the end
which has the effect of lightening the tip, which in turn places
the knives balance point at around the lower scale fastener.
The handle has been formed from a very hard synthetic material
which is very tough indeed and has been finished with an English
oak pattern.
Lastly we have the sheath. Its made from a reinforced nylon with
an English oak pattern. This I believe to be very long lasting.
The knife is retained in place with a traditional press stud fastener.
