and now an iconic classic .There is even a Museum
dedicated to the knife in Saint Jean-de-Maurienne.
By the start of World War II there was as many as
20 Million sold.This must be a record in the knife
production world. Although there are several different
designs available now, the original is made from just
four components. The handle made from beech wood,
the carbon steel blade, collar and pivot rivet. The
modern version has a locking ring, which locks shut
and open preventing accidental opening or closing.
the Opinel Knife is available in 11 different sizes,
size 8 being the most popular with a 8.5cm blade.
